Fergal MacCabe


Fergal is the founding member of the practice and has over 45 years’ experience as an architect and town planner. He has built a reputation for master planning and also as an advisor to central and local government. As such, he has had a considerable influence in the evolution of planning practice in Ireland.

Padraic Thornton

BA, H.Dip, Dip.TP, M.Sc, MIPI

Padraig was formerly the Chief Officer and Director of Planning with An Bord Pleanála. He is a leading expert in strategic infrastructure, environmental assessment and associated legislative and administrative requirements. He has authored statutory guidelines on EIA, advised on legislation and has extensive experience advising public bodies. He currently works as a self employed Reporter in the Scottish planning appeal system.

Marion Chalmers


Marion is a leading retail consultant with extensive experience in preparing retail strategies for local authorities, preparing retail impact studies and appraising retail planning applications.

Dr Brian Madden

B.A(Mod.), Ph.D, MCIEEM

Brian is a terrestrial ecologist and ornithologist.  He provides regular advice to the practice in relation to the Habitats and Birds Directives.

Matt Barnes

B.Sc Arch, Dip.Arch, MRIAI

Matt is an architect with over 30 years’ experience and provides the practice with architectural advice and design support services.

We also work with a number of other consultancies and firms on a regular basis including Arc, DBFL Consulting Engineers, Kavanagh Tuite, Doran Cray, Studio 3, Altemar, Sweett Group, Rogerson Reddan, O’Mahony Pike Architects, Burke Kavanagh, Metropolitan Workshop, Burke Kennedy Doyle, JBA Consulting, RPS Group, AWN Consulting, Archer Heritage, Transport Insights, Peter Brett and Malone O’Regan Consulting Engineers.
