The practice was commissioned as part of the multi-disciplinary team which successfully secured, in July 2015, a ten-year planning permission for the redevelopment of Alexandra Basin at Dublin Port. The Strategic Infrastructure Development was permitted under Section 37B(1) of the Planning and Development Act 2000-2010.
It comprises approximately one third of the projects set out in the Dublin Port Company 2012-2040 Masterplan and is designed to address the capacity constraints forecast as well as to accommodate the significantly increasing number of cruise ships and passengers visiting Dublin.
MacCabe Durney Barnes had a significant input into the success of the project, as it was involved since the masterplanning stage and subsequent referral stage. The practice provided strategic planning and expert advice to the applicant and the multi-disciplinary team, as well as prepared key inputs for the EIS and coordinated the planning application. It provided oral hearing services and expert witness as well as liaising with key stakeholders and planning authorities.
