The practice was commissioned by Carlow County Council to prepare the Housing Strategy forming part of the Carlow County Development Plan 2015-2021. The Strategy has been prepared in accordance with Part V of the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended.
It ensures an adequate provision of housing is available to meet the future needs of the existing and planned population of County Carlow. The strategy resulted in the determination of the affordability threshold and the percentage of social housing to be provided. Recommendations on the types of units and delivery were also made. Policies were then defined to support Carlow County Council in catering for local housing needs.
MacCabe Durney Barnes prepared the strategy and presented it to the local councillors who adopted it as part of the County Development Plan 2015-2021.
