The practice was commissioned by Meath County Council to prepare the Housing Strategy to form part of the Meath County Development Plan 2020-2026. The strategy is being prepared in accordance with the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended.
The Housing Strategy considers the existing and future needs of the residents in County Meath. It addresses the need to ensure that housing is available for persons who have different levels of income, that there is a mix of house types and sizes, including those for the elderly and persons with disabilities. It seeks to counteract undue segregation in housing between persons of different social backgrounds. Finally, the Strategy has regard to the needs of the homeless and to provide suitable accommodation to Travellers who are indigenous to the area.
