The practice was commissioned by Fingal County Council to prepare a Retail Study for Hansfield Strategic Development Zone (SDZ). It included a review of the current retail policy for the Greater Dublin Area (GDA), the Fingal County Development Plan (CDP) 2011-2017 and the current Hansfield SDZ Planning Scheme and the assessment of retail floorspace requirements.
The study considered issues of vitality and viability as well as of development phasing. Qualitative factors and issues arising for the physical layout of the SDZ Planning Scheme were also considered so that recommendations can be made accordingly. The study also included a retail health assessment of centres within the study area, as well as a quantitative analysis, capacity assessment and analysis of retail need.
